CNN founder Ted Turner created a video to be aired on the day the world ends. The soundtrack surprised internet users.
According to the website Jalopnik, Ted Turner, billionaire founder of the CNN news channel, revealed that the network is broadcasting coverage of a possible apocalypse. With that in mind, he made a video dedicated to the event.
“We will be on air and will cover the end of the world live, and that will be our last event,” he told the site.
“We will play the National Anthem only once, on June 1st [CNN’s launch day], and when the end of the world comes, we will play ‘Nearer My God To Thee’ before going off the air,” he added.

The song became famous for playing in James Cameron’s movie “Titanic.” In the scene, the ship’s musicians play the Christian hymn as the vessel sinks. According to reports, this was one of the last songs the ship’s band played.
The video shows a band playing the song outside Turner’s mansion. The clip is called Turne Doomsday Video and was leaked in 2009 by a CNN intern named Michael Ballaban, who is now a writer.
“That’s how the world ends, not with a bang, not with a whimper, but with a small melancholic band, and a quick fade-out to black,” he wrote to Jalopnik.
Apparently, the video has existed since the 1980s, intended for use in case of nuclear war. It has been available on YouTube since 2015 but only recently went viral because of TikTok.
